International Eventer Rebecca Vale told Synovium Horse Health,

“Like many people our return to competition this year was thrown up in the air by the Corona Virus. As we did not know when or even if we would be back competing, I made the decision to give Fergal a month off at the end of March. I am lucky that he is now well established at Intermediate level eventing so does not need constant XC schooling or lots of flatwork, I therefore like to prioritise his fitness work when thinking about returning to competition.

We managed to return to eventing in July this year back at Intermediate level. Fergal felt the strongest he has for years and I do think it’s down to the time taken to build him up, the slower the better especially after injury is the best tip I can think of.  His return to competition this year has gone extremely well and we have even managed a run at CCI3* level, not bad considering the late start to the season! The use of the Synovium supplements has definitely helped him.

I did feel out of practise with my show jumping when we first returned. As an amateur one horse rider with limited facilities it is really difficult sometimes to be competing at this level against professional riders with multiple horses who are out every single weekend. As such I have decided to do some pure Showjumping in between the eventing and carry this on through the winter months, hopefully practise makes perfect!”

We look forward to watching sponsored rider and eventer Rebecca progress with her horse in the showjumping phase over the winter in preperation for 2021 eventing season.
